In The Style Of
Meredith Homet
Meet Meredith Homet - Media Executive and mom to Alden. Meredith took some time to show us around her art-filled Brooklyn home and talk to us about style.Â
What does style mean to you?
Expressing my most authentic self, exuding confidence. Love statement-making dramatic pieces/accessories.Â
What's on your coffee table?
Probably too much stuff - I love a good coffee table curation and always looking to mix it up. Right now coffee table books like Bill Cunningham On the Street, Slim Arons Poolside, succulents, and candles. I'm obsessed with this candle company called Claus we discovered on a recent trip to Portugal.Â
What's hanging on your wall?Â
Lots of art - every inch of our walls are covered. It makes me happy and gives our home personality. I could never live in a white box. Â
What can't you live without?
Aside from my family and friends (and dog Rodger) - traveling. It's my obsession. The further flung the better - looking into a trip right now to The Philippines or Bhutan.  And music! Can't live in silence. Â
What could you do without?Â
A polarized society, social mediaÂ
What's the last book that you read?Â
Embarrassing to admit Bono's autobiography, SurrenderÂ
What's the last song you listened to?
I'm really into Arlo Parks right now, she's fantastic. But currently playing in my home is Steve Lacy. We listen to my alma mater (University of Texas) college radio station KUTX constantly. Great inspiration for new music.
Favorite color?Â
Dark greenÂ
Favorite dish?
This is easy - my husband's chicken Milanese. My mouth is watering typing this!
Favorite pastime?
Traveling, spending quality time with the people I love, watching Alden play volleyball, reading the NYT - the paper version - on the weekends.
Favorite piece in your wardrobe?
It's the FV colorblock wrap It's honestly the best thing to travel with, super chic, warm - but not too warm - and can double as a blanket. It's been all over the world!
Do you and kids share any personal style traits?
We share sweaters and shoes frequently. I will be borrowing her new FV Jude Mary Janes in Red!
Outside of style how do you encourage self-expression and confidence in your kid?
Letting her be her own unique self/ trying to be a good role model. Â
What's your favorite thing about being a mom?Â
I realize this sounds disingenuous but everything. Couldn't imagine a world without Alden. Â
