Mom – Sara

For Mother's Day this year, we reached out to our mom friends and colleagues and asked them to share what they've been up to during these unusual times.
Meet Sara, creative, style enthusiast, and mom to Isabella.

What have you been working on?

My sanity!! Working from home and raising a toddler (without a sibling to play with) is new for all of us. Right now, my focus is taking each day as it comes, and trying to do my damn best!! Huge kudos to all the parents during this time.

What are you learning?

I've learned how little we need to be truly happy. We have been quarantining at my aunt and uncle's beach cottage in Maine-- with minimal toys, clothes, kitchen gadgets, etc. We are having the best time together as a family just enjoying the outside and each other's company. I am also learning so much about my daughter, Isabella's personality by spending so much time with her. It is truly invaluable.

What are you teaching?

I'm trying to teach Isabella patience and understanding. It is hard for her to see me "go to work" in the same house. We have also been getting her outside as much as possible, showing her true nature- which is a huge departure from her Brooklyn "concrete jungle" days.

What are you making?

I need to get on that one!!! We've been collecting sand dollars and sea glass at the beach, so we are researching what we want to make with them.

How are you staying inspired?

Daily walks on the beach have been both therapeutic and inspiring. The palette of the rocks, sand and ocean is unreal. Maine's landscape is beautiful.

What do you find comforting?

Knowing that my family is healthy in mind, spirit, and body.

What are you wearing?

Comfortable essentials! We didn't pack much when we came to Maine from Brooklyn. My favorite sweaters have been in constant rotation. With warmer weather on the horizon, I have a few dress/mumu/caftans on my radar as well.

What's been the most challenging part of social distancing?

I have never been away for this long from my parents and my identical twin sister. It is heartbreaking and gives me a pit in my stomach just thinking about it. Isabella not being able to see them and her friends also kills me.

What's the most surprising thing you discovered during quarantine?

How to make my own martini and COOK!!

What are you reading?

Too many news articles right now...any feel good book suggestions? :)
