How did Coco get started on TikTok?

Our family is crazy about Coco! She put our family first, 100% of the time. She is adorable and charming and sometimes says the most hilarious things. I started filming her so I could get funny moments to share on our family group chat.

One day, I posted them on Tik Tok just to see what would happen and she was an immediate hit! She is so natural on camera - totally herself, upbeat and unintentionally, really funny. People started thanking us for sharing her and they write very sweet things in the comments. She’s making a lot of people happy with her content. It’s really lovely.

How has Tiktok changed your relationship?

We see each other everyday, even if it’s for a short time to film a quick video. We are so grateful to have such a fun and easy (some would say inseparable) relationship. The sweet comments from Coco’s followers remind us everyday how lucky we are to have the kind of relationship that we do. 

What is your favorite thing in Coco's closet?

My favorite thing in Coco’s closet is a felt clutch. It’s orange with little applique birds that look like Charly Harper made them. It’s Lulu Guinness from the 1990’s. Favorite New Addition: the navy and cream striped cardigan with red trim from Frances Valentine!

On Coco's Style:

Coco loves fun jewelry like a giant glass bubble necklace from the Museum of Contemporary Art store in Chicago, she has velvet shoes that look like kitty cats, and turquoise tulle Marc Jacobs skirt which my daughter referred to as ‘Coco’s tutu’. Her wardrobe is sprinkled with color, it’s chic, sometimes playful but never over the top. She prefers sweaters and knits over blouses and blazers, so she always looks cozy too. 

What is your favorite memory with Coco?

There are too many to pick just one, but I love laying on Coco’s bed with her in the late afternoon or hitting the McDonald’s Drive thru for a hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge.

What's your favorite dish that Coco makes?

Angel Food cake with strawberry icing. She still makes it for everyone's birthday!

What do you think of this whole Tiktok thing?

I’m enjoying being videoed by Katie because it’s time with my daughter. It’s kind of fun! It’s like coming alive when the lights come on at night. I feel like I’m more popular than I ever thought I was! (with a giggle). The comments make me feel good, like I’m appreciated at this old age and that feels good.

How would you describe your style?
I tend not to be very trendy. When I see my children wear certain things, I think maybe I need to update my style, but I don’t always do it. 

What can't you live without?

Family in my daily life - a drop-in or phone call.

Complaining. (A fault of mine sometimes too)

Favorite pasttime?

Daydreaming. And meeting my friends or family for a glass of pinot grigio with a side of ice!

What are your favorite memories?

Occasions with my family, like grandchildren’s graduations, special Christmases surrounded by my family, the ones I love so much. I can’t think of any one special time, and there will be more coming up. My oldest grandchild’s wedding was thrilling for me, our gathering this Easter was a dream come true - all four of my children were there, 7 of the 9 grandchildren were there. I looked at the long table and thought: These belong to me!
