What does style mean to you?

People think of style as what they wear, but I think it’s more holistic, how people project themselves regarding how they communicate with the world. Of course, how you dress is a part of that, but it’s not all. Style is how you carry yourself; it’s from within–it’s what sets you apart. For me, it’s how you express yourself, whether in your body language, how you talk to others, or even how you throw a sweater over your shoulders. It’s not just an aesthetic thing; it speaks to who you are. When I say that a person has a lot of style, I’m talking about their attitude.

What’s on your coffee table?

A mix of different personal things that go together because they’re all gold; my nesting dishes from Aerin, a Jonathan Adler zebra dish, some cocktail napkins printed with my art (in gold foil), and a dish we got on our honeymoon that’s always filled with gold-wrapped candy. There are also photo coasters I gave my husband, Andy, as a present, with photos of our daughters.

What’s hanging on your wall?

I like family gallery walls. Mine are filled with family photos, art, whether I made it, my kids made it, or another artist created it, and scrap boxes full of mementos and personal memories—mine are holding anything from our wedding invitation to a onesie one of my daughters wore. I also have walls covered in my illustrated wall frame decals, which I can easily switch photos in and out of, and a wall in my office where I alternate my Chasing Paper wall decals showing windows opening onto New York and Paris.

What can’t you live without?

My family.

What could you do without?

Luggage fees; I’m a notorious over-packer.

What’s the last book that you read?

I always have two books near my bedside and love to read books by other female entrepreneurs. Right now, I’m reading, How to Lose Friends and Influence No One by Mary Giuliani and Lydia Fenet’s book, Claim Your Confidence.

What’s the last song you listened to?

Probably Elton John; he’s my go-to soundtrack always, especially when I
draw.

What’s the last interesting thing you saw?

My daughter Ella promoting her Tie-Dye for A Good Cause on TV with
Rosanna Scotto.

Favorite color?

Gold is neutral and metallic; it goes with everything and adds sparkle to
everything.

Favorite dish?

You’re probably asking me what my favorite food is, but my mind goes
straight to Ladurée—I’ll take a sweet from there any day, but in full
disclosure, I’m in it for the boxes.

Favorite pastime?

Drawing. It’s usually tied to something that makes me happy, whether I’m sketching a travel journal, making a card or favor or gift for a friend or family member, or live drawing at an event as part of my Celebration Expert business. For me, drawing is always connected to celebrating life.

Favorite piece in your wardrobe?

My charm necklace because every item on it is meaningful to me.

What brings you joy?

Celebrating everything—the milestones and the everyday moments. Even though I “celebrate” for a living—my business is called Celebration Expert, and my book is called Celebrate Everything—honestly, it brings me joy to
celebrate life with my friends and family and to help others celebrate life. I always say, “Life is short; celebrate everything!”

What are you wearing?

Layers, because I’m always cold. I usually throw a scarf on my head in the morning so I don’t have to worry about how my hair looks throughout the day. And jewelry, because it’s always nice to add some sparkle.
